Welcome aboard

A friendly club in the Penk Valley

Stafford Boat Club sits in its own arm off the Staffordshire & Worcestershire Canal, about two hours’ cruise from Tixall Lock, in the middle of some of the best cruising on the system.

We are a registered Community Amateur Sports Club and a not-for-profit organisation, promoting inland waterways boating and everything that comes with it. Membership is open to everyone, and our members know these canals and rivers inside out — so if you want advice on cruising locally, this is the place to ask.

You will always be made to feel welcome.

What we offer

Facilities for boaters and visitors

Everything on site is built and looked after by club members, which keeps costs down and the welcome genuine.

A narrowboat inside the covered wet dock

Wet dock

A dry, warm, low-dust space for painting — comfortably takes a 60ft narrowboat, whatever the weather is doing outside.

A boat lifted clear of the water on the club slipway

Slipway

A gentle bogie-and-winch lift rather than a crane, with pressure washers, electricity and water included in the hire.

The clubhouse function room laid out for an event

Room hire

A canalside function room for up to 80, a licensed bar and a covered balcony with views across the valley.

Our charity

Members raise money every year

Each year our members choose a charity to support, and collect at social functions and events right through the season.

In 2025 members raised £9,000, split equally between Midlands Air Ambulance and Katharine House Hospice in Stafford. Through 2026 we are collecting for Alzheimer’s Society — Dementia Support and Macmillan Cancer Support.
