A narrowboat lifted clear of the water on the club slipway

Slipway

A DIY-friendly slipway using a gentle bogie and winch system, with pressure washers, electricity and water included.

Our slipway gives boat owners a reliable, DIY-friendly way to look after and inspect everything below the waterline — designed to be straightforward, efficient and good value.

Why boaters choose it

  • A gentle lift. We use a bogie and winched inclined plane rather than a crane, so your boat is lifted evenly out of the water.
  • Run by boaters. Operated by experienced club members who put your boat’s safety first and will happily lend a hand.
  • Proper cleaning kit. Good quality pressure washers are included.
  • Utilities included. Electricity and water at no extra cost.
  • Covers and steps. One 23ft (7m) cover per boat, positioned by the slipway team on the day you arrive, plus movable steps.
  • The social side. You are welcome to use the bar and join in club events while you are with us.

Safety and PPE

Correct and suitable personal protective equipment should be worn by anyone using the slipway — eye protection, gloves, dust masks and respirators as appropriate. We do not provide PPE for visitors; users are responsible for providing and using their own.

Also worth knowing

We also have a first-class wet dock which takes a 60ft narrowboat and gives a low-condensation, low-dust, draught-free environment for painting.

The slipway is operated by Stafford BC Trading Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Stafford Boat Club Limited.
